
The Larchmont Mamaroneck Lions Club and its partners presented a live audio theater recreation of the 1949 Lux Radio Theater’s version of the Holiday Classic movie “Miracle On 34th Street” before a live audience on Dec. 21 at the Larchmont Village Center. The event also included the showing of a Christmas episode of the TV sitcom “Ozzie & Harriet,” including Ricky Nelson singing “The Christmas Song” and an audience quiz with prizes.
The production was led by Jason Summers and the Sandbox Theatre. The audience and performers featured professional, blind, handicapped and local school theater students.
And was co-sponsored by the Larchmont Library, the Sandbox Theatre, Sperdvac (The Society for the Preservation of Radio Drama, Variety and Comedy), The Westchester Council for the Blind, LMC Media and the Larchmont Mamaroneck Lions Club.
The Lions will celebrate the Centennial of the Larchmont Lions and host their annual Points of Light Celebration of Service on Jan. 11 at the Orienta Beach Club when more than 60 local community service groups will be honored. It will also include the presentation of the Jack Coughlin Community Service Awards to Larchmont Friends of the Family and Pat Allen. The keynote speaker is the past president of Lions International Douglas Alexander.
