As part of its “year of the youth” initiative and mission to support community service groups and programs, the Larchmont Mamaroneck & Port Chester/Rye Brook Lions presented three grants in the amount of $1,000 each to Pediatric Cancer Foundation, LMC Media, and the Council of Community Services at its late December luncheon meeting.
Grant recipients were selected by a committee consisting of LM Lions President Lina Pasquale and Board members Carolyn Gallaher and Jason Summers.
The Pediatric Cancer Foundation’s Junior Committee award was accepted by Lion Nancy Joselson;
the LMC Media award was accepted by Lion Mike Witsch for Lion Dena Schumacher and the Council of Community Services of Port Chester, town of Rye, and the Rye Brook/Mary O’Connell Campership Fund was accepted by Lion Stacey Harris.
The LM Lions continued its recognition of community service at its Points of Light event on Jan. 12. This event is the vital fundraising source for virtually all of the donations the LM Lions give back to support the community. At this event, community service awards were presented to Jason Summers, director of The Sandbox Theatre, OCRA, a 4-year civics program at Mamaroneck High School and The Carver Center, which provides a wide range of programs and assistance to Port Chester residents.
