The Arc Westchester, the largest organization providing services and support to people with developmental disabilities in Westchester County, is conducting a major renovation and improvement project at the Ann Manzi Center, its large Day Service Hub in Mount Kisco. While Phase I has already been completed, this will serve as a kick-off to the start of Phase II of the project largely funded by the benefactors of the Arc Westchester Foundation, the Manzi family, as well as the Mother Cabrini Foundation. The Arc Westchester Foundation continues to seek funders to underwrite capital improvements to the organization’s many other facilities, including other day services sites, residences, the clinic and the preschool.
There are very few opportunities for people with developmental disabilities to get the daily support they need to help them thrive in the community, even in Westchester. And this is particularly true of those who are aging and living longer. This building, with the renovations, will provide invaluable and critical services to help these individuals continue to lead productive and fulfilled lives.
Nestled on over three acres of beautiful green space, the fully refurbished Ann Manzi Center property will provide facilities and a natural environment for the hundreds of people supported there each year. While on site, attendees participate in constructive programs and thrive in a space that was designed specifically for them. The improvements to the building and grounds will include an accessible nature walking trail to promote holistic wellness and physical fitness for the program participants, particularly the growing aging population. The plans also include larger parking accommodations, better security and lighting, an improved entryway and awning, ADA compliant bathroom renovations and other improvements, both functional and aesthetic.
