Habitat for Humanity of Coastal Fairfield County’s (Habitat CFC) Youth United program celebrated its 20th anniversary Oct.19. The event brought together current and past members, advisors and Habitat CFC homeowners to reflect on two decades of empowering youth through community service. Throughout the year, Youth United coordinates construction build days, fundraisers and other activities so that every student, regardless of age, can contribute to Habitat CFC’s mission of providing decent and affordable housing to Coastal Fairfield County.
Since 2005, Youth United has sponsored eight Habitat CFC homes for low-income, working families. This event is also a fundraising effort to ensure Youth United can continue fostering community service across its service area and meet the goal of fully funding the construction of an affordable, energy-efficient and brand-new home on Holly Street in the East End of Bridgeport, Connecticut.
