ConEdison Solutions, the Consolidated Edison Inc. subsidiary based in White Plains, has acquired Custom Energy Services L.L.C. of Overland Park, Kan., an energy services company with a national portfolio of clients.
Founded in 1997, Custom Energy Services is a pioneer in the use of guaranteed performance contracts. Performance contracting leverages energy savings from energy-efficient infrastructure improvements to cover project installation costs over set periods of time. The company also provides energy consulting for demand- and supply-side services and provides on-site power, co-generation and renewable energy technologies. The acquisition is part of a corporate expansion strategy that has positioned ConEdison Solutions in both the energy services and energy commodity marketplaces.
“With the addition of Custom Energy Services, we further strengthen our capacity to deliver energy efficiency and energy savings nationwide in an era of unprecedented demand for these services,” said Jorge J. Lopez, president and CEO of ConEdison Solutions. “Their highly regarded team complements our current energy efficiency expertise and delivery capabilities and allows us to expand our capacity to deliver the energy services the market is demanding. At a time of increased awareness of the need for sustainability, and concerns about rapidly rising energy costs, we continue to enhance our ability to provide customers with solutions to both of these issues.”
In addition to its new Kansas office serving the Midwest region, ConEdison Solutions has offices in New York, Florida, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Virginia, North Carolina and Texas to support its growing national energy services business. Last May, the company acquired BGA Inc., a Tampa, Fla.-based energy services and engineering firm selected by the country”™s largest owner of retail real estate, Simon Property Group, to provide energy efficiency services at properties nationwide.
ConEdison Solutions also maintains a growing electric commodity supply business, serving customers in Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, Maine, Connecticut, Maryland, Texas, Illinois and Washington, D.C.
