Westport-based Connoisseur Media has announced programming changes to its local radio stations.
At 95.9-FM WFOX is being rebranded from The FOX to Fairfield County Rocks and is dropping 1960s and 1970s tunes from its playlist to focus on the rock music from the late 1980s into the 2000s. The core artists of the new lineup will include Pearl Jam, Guns N’ Roses, Nirvana, Def Leppard, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sublime, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Mötley Crüe and Linkin Park.
“The Stamford/Norwalk market, even with the bleed in of New York City radio, is completely underserved with the next generation of classic rock,” Program Director Kevin Begley said. “The new version of 95.9 the FOX will supply that demand for those huge rock hits of the last 30 years”.
Separately, Connoisseur Media is making changes at two stations that it recently acquired, WEBE 107.9-FM and WICC 600-AM. Storm N. Norman, who hosted the WEBE morning show from the station”™s founding in 1984 until his retirement in 2013, has returned to his old spot, with former morning host Jay Michaels moving to the afternoon. At WICC, former News 12 Connecticut reporter Melissa Sheketoff has been teamed with longtime morning show host Tony Reno for the new “Tony and Melissa Show,” while Paul Pacelli has shifted from WDRC 1360-AM in Hartford to host an afternoon call-in show.
