The Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) has awarded Connecticut Public a two-year $217,775 grant to expand its coverage of the state government.
Connecticut Public will use the grant funds for a full-time, year-round reporter covering stories related to state government. This coverage will be distributed across over 60 Connecticut Public platforms including Connecticut Public Radio (WNPR), Connecticut Public Television (CPTV), WSHU in Fairfield and eight public media stations in the New England News Collaborative.
The grant is part of CPB’s $2.25 million in funding to strengthen public media state government reporting in seven states.
“We are humbled by the CPB’s decision to invest in Connecticut Public and our coverage of our state government,” said Mark G. Contreras, president and CEO of Connecticut Public. “Critical decisions are made at our state capitol representing the 169 towns in Connecticut. With this important support, we believe that we and our partner news organizations will be able to better serve all residents of Connecticut by shining more light on numerous decisions made by public officials throughout state government.”
