Connecticut Economic Resource Center Inc. opened the year by signing a contract to upgrade its SiteFinder commercial property Web site to include a slew of new functions.
San Francisco-based GIS Planning Inc. is leading the overhaul, slated for completion this summer. The company launched its ZoomProspector.com Web site last October, a free tool that allows companies to peg business, economic and community characteristics of locales they are considering for expansion or relocation ”“ from schools, to commute times, to the availability of venture capital.
The new Web site should elevate Connecticut”™s visibility among site-selection professionals, according to Stephen MacKenzie, senior vice president of CERC.
CERC was incorporated in 1993 to provide similar services through the Economic Data and Development Information Network, which allows users to find demographic and economic information. The organization also runs ProgramFinder, which helps connect businesses with various local and state incentives.
