A commercial printer and supplier of promotional products plans to close its Mount Vernon plant and lay off 81 workers starting this fall.
Gemini Manufacturing Corp., the Yonkers-based parent company of supplier Jetline L.L.C., this month notified the state Labor Department of the plant closing and layoffs expected to begin about Oct. 1. Jetline”™s plant is at at 30 Warren Place in Mount Vernon.
Eric Levin, president and CEO of Gemini and Jetline, and an attorney for the company did not return calls for comment.
According to a promotional products trade newsletter, Levin started Jetline out of his Manhattan apartment in 1998. The company in late 2006 purchased the equipment and inventory of Lebro Line, a Long Island City, Queens, company started by Levin”™s father. Jetline”™s 2009 sales are estimated at $23 million, according to the industry newsletter. Â
