United Rentals Inc. has announced the promotion of two executives to the C-suite level.
Paul McDonnell has been named chief commercial officer, tasked with leading the Stamford company”™s domestic and global specialty rental operations and company-wide responsibility for sales, marketing and digital commerce. McDonnell joined the firm in 1999 in a district management role and served as senior vice president of specialty operations since 2008.
Dale Asplund has been named chief operating officer, tasked with overseeing United”™s general rentals segment and company-wide responsibility for safety and operational functions. Asplund has served in senior positions with United Rentals since joining the company in 1998 and was previously executive vice president of business services and chief information officer.
The pair’s new roles “underscore the deep bench strength we have within United Rentals, as well as the continuity we”™ve achieved with our succession plan,” said Matthew Flannery, who became CEO of United Rentals on May 8.
