Nuvance Health has appointed Susan L. Browning as the new president of Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie.
Browning succeeds Peter Kelly, who recently retired from his position after a health care career spanning more than 40 years. Browning will also serve as Western Regional President for Nuvance Health, where she will have operational oversight of Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck, led by President Denise George, and Putnam Hospital in Carmel, led by President Dr. Mark Hirko.
Browning joins Nuvance Health from Northwell, Health where she served as senior vice president of ambulatory strategy and business development. Before that, she was executive director of Long Island Jewish Forest Hills Hospital.
“We are thrilled to have Susan join our team,” said Michelle Robertson, chief operating officer of Nuvance Health. “She has a strong track record of leadership and a deep commitment to delivering high-quality patient care, and we believe she is the perfect fit to lead Vassar Brothers Medical Center into the future.”
