The Castle Hotel and Spa recently opened its Thann Sanctuary Spa after eight months of construction at 400 Benedict Ave., Tarrytown. It is the first spa of its kind in the country.
The Thann Sanctuary Spa uses a holistic spa concept to provide natural therapy most commonly found in countries like Thailand, Australia, Finland, Guam, India, Japan, Mexico, Mongolia, Russia, Singapore, Taiwan and Vietnam.
The spa is a building with stone walls that has very few openings. A curved stone wall guides the guest through an opening in the wall in a sheltered interior courtyard. The walls in the courtyard are transparent from floor to ceiling, creating a contrast with the solid stone wall on the exterior.
The 8,700-square-foot spa features separate locker facilities, a women’s relaxation lounge and steam rooms for men and women. It includes seven treatment rooms, a VIP treatment suite and an expansive relaxation lounge with a view of the wooded grounds.
The spa provides meal services through Equus Restaurant. Chef Marc Lippman and his culinary team create Auberge-style, French-inspired cuisine based on locally sourced foods.
