Golden Rod Restaurant Corp. in New Rochelle was part of a chain of three suburban Chinese restaurants that will pay approximately $1.09 million in back wages, interest and liquidated damages to 255 employees following legal action by the U.S. Department of Labor.
The Golden Rod eatery, at 55 E. Main St., and two Asian Moon restaurants in Nassau County, along with the chain”™s president, Vickie Su Li, also agreed to pay $98,231 in civil penalties and interest for violations of the federal Fair Labor Standard Act”™s minimum wage, overtime and recordkeeping provisions, federal officials said.
The lawsuits and consent judgment followed investigations of the restaurant chain by the Labor Department”™s Wage and Hour Division offices in White Plains and on Long Island.
