FAIRFIELD – Working with Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK), Hartford HealthCare Fairfield Cancer Center opened Friday, May 2 at 4185 Black Rock Turnpike.
The 25,000 square-foot facility is meant to redefine patient care through advanced, leading-edge technology, personalized and coordinated care plans and groundbreaking research initiatives, according to Jeffrey A. Flaks, president and CEO of Hartford HealthCare.
“It’s about bringing hope to our patients by giving them direct access to the best cancer care in the world. This new cancer center epitomizes our relentless pursuit of excellence to provide world-class cancer care for every patient.
“As part of this grand opening, we’re excited to continue our collaboration with MSK’s world-renowned experts to elevate cancer care for patients in Connecticut.”
Dr. Selwyn M. Vickers, FACS, president and CEO of MSK, was honored to be part of bringing the center to Fairfield.
“Through MSK Care Partners, patients at the Fairfield Cancer Center and St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport will receive subspecialized treatment guided by MSK’s world-renowned standards,” Vickers said.

The Fairfield Cancer Center will offer the first Varian Ethos Radiation Therapy System in Connecticut. This advanced radiation therapy system uses Adaptive Intelligence to personalize treatments in real-time.
The center will provide patients with access to such treatments as medical oncology, infusion, pain management, palliative care, and pharmacy services, to name a few.
The opening of the Fairfield Cancer Center brings together a team of highly specialized experts providing patients with comprehensive cancer care and a strong focus on patient comfort and well-being. The center features a serene, healing environment designed to reduce stress and promote recovery. Additionally, support services such as counseling, nutritional guidance and integrative therapies are available to address the holistic needs of patients and their families.
“It was an honor to join community leaders to celebrate this tremendous opportunity for Fairfield and the Greater Bridgeport region, a cancer center that will bring life-saving care closer to home,” said Rep. Christine McCarthy Vahey (D-Fairfield), who was at the May 2 opening.
Hartford HealthCare’s Fairfield Cancer Center is an MSK care partner, which means that Hartford HealthCare physicians at this location will have access to MSK’s expertise and the opportunity to collaborate and interact with MSK physicians in several ways.
Building on the 10-year collaboration in which the Hartford HealthCare Cancer Institute became the first member of the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Alliance, Hartford HealthCare’s Cancer Institute at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport. The Fairfield center is the first MSK Care Partner in the country.
