According to Darien police a group of four people wearing masks and gloves broke into the David Harvey Jewelers on the Old Post Road early on Wednesday morning around 4:30am.
Located along Route 1, the thoroughfare is very busy during the day.
According to video released by the Darien Police on the afternoon of May 16 the robbers used hammers and a trash can to smash open the front door of the upscale jewelry shop. The assailants used the tools to smash glass display counters, scooped up the contents, and deposited them in the trash can.
There is no clear indication at this time of a connection between this break-in and the robbery of a Westport jewelry store by two men in a black BMW last week.
The Darien Police Department urges anybody with information about the robbery to contact the Detective Division by phone at 203-662-5330.
