The first of several new restaurants that developer Martin Ginsburg plans to welcome to Ginsburg Development Companies’ (GDC) City Square property in White Plains has opened. City Square is Ginsburg’s reimagining of the former White Plains Financial Center at 50 Main St., near the Metro-North train station. Ginsburg plans to make City Square a culinary destination in addition to offering office space, residences, retail and open space.
GDC is currently rebuilding an area formerly used by retail businesses near the corner of Main Street and S. Lexington Avenue to house four future restaurants with parking available for patrons in City Square’s 1,000-space garage.
The newly-opened restaurant is Medi Bistro, which offers a menu featuring Mediterranean and Persian dishes. White Plains Mayor Tom Roach joined Ginsburg, restaurateur Par Shakiban and others for a March 28 ribbon-cutting.
Shakiban has owned other restaurants including Par”™s Steak & Seafood Houses in four locations in Westchester and Eclisse Northern Italian Cuisine in five locations in New York and Connecticut.
“The secret to this sophisticated cuisine is the use of fresh ingredients and genuinely fresh herbs, some of which are imported from the Middle East and India,” Shakiban said.
According to Ginsburg, “Medi Bistro is a critical component of our overall plan to create a vibrant and lively streetscape along Main Street.”
