Rye Ridge Shopping Center, Plaza and South in Rye Brook welcomes the opening of Mama Mia Dessert Bar, which recently signed a long-term lease for 1,500 square feet in the space formally occupied by Red Mango in the main portion of the shopping center.
“We really felt it was vital to replace the Red Mango with a frozen concept,” said leasing agent Erin Hinchey. “It’s essential to a well-rounded shopping center. I am personally excited for people to discover taiyaki ice cream, mochi doughnuts and Korean corn dogs for the first time.”
This lease follows the recent opening of Japanese household retailer Daiso at the shopping center.
Already popular in New York City and Los Angeles, taiyaki ice cream is soft-served in fish-shaped, waffle-style cones. Among the signature creations is “Straight – Outta Japan,” made with matcha black sesame ice cream and a red bean taiyaki cone.
Mochi doughnuts are made from sweet, gluten-free Japanese flour that gives them a chewy, springy but light texture. Mochi doughnuts have 50% less calories than their American counterparts. They’re shaped into rings, with each doughnut comprised of eight rings fried together. Flavors include churro, Nutella, black sesame and guava pineapple.
Mama Mia’s corn dogs include Original Crispy Ramen Hot Dog and Hot Cheetos Mozzarella. The shop also plans to serve shaved ice this summer and bubble tea.
Added Hinchey: “Having a dessert bar that features delicacies that no other shopping center offers its obviously pretty special.”
The Rye Ridge Shopping Center, Plaza & South, located at Ridge and Bowman avenues, contains more than 70 shops, eateries, fitness boutiques and lifestyle services with free parking.
