ANDRUS recently held its 10th annual “Light Up the Night” benefit dinner at the Ritz-Carlton, Westchester. The event raised more than $245,000 for Andrus services for children and families. Honored at the dinner were: William P. Harrington, partner, Bleakley Platt & Schmidt L.L.P., and Nancy Woodruff Ment, president and CEO, Andrus. More than 200 guests attended the benefit.
Mae Carpenter, commissioner of the Westchester County Department of Senior Programs and Services was recently presented with an Exemplary Leadership Award from the grassroots advocacy organization, New York Statewide Senior Action Council. The presentation was made at the council”™s 40th convention and gala in Saratoga Springs.
Port Chester Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre recently held a “Best Chef” contest to find a new chef manager for the facility. of Stamford, a veteran chef with experience in long-term care and assisted living, was chosen as the winner of the contest and has been hired as food-services director and chef at the facility.
Joel Seligman, president and CEO of Northern Westchester Hospital has been selected to receive the Westchester County Association 2012 APEX Award for Advocacy at its annual leadership dinner. Seligman was selected to receive the award as a result of his deep commitment to fostering wellness and prevention programs for patients and community members.

Professional Women of Putnam and Westchester recently hosted a benefit event with proceeds going to Support Connection Inc., a nonprofit organization that provides free, confidential support services to people with breast and ovarian cancer. The event, which was titled Pretty in Pink took place at Augie’s Prime Cut and raised more than $1,000 in raffles and pink hair extensions to benefit Support Connection.
