With demand growing for voluntary employee benefit offerings, Amalgamated Life Insurance Co. in White Plains has created a dedicated business division to market its worksite insurance products, the company recently announced.
John Thornton, Amalgamated Life executive vice president of sales and marketing, said the company in the last six months has added several staff members in key territories across the country to market its worksite voluntary insurance products both through its broker network and directly to employers and unions. The product line includes term and whole life insurance, individual short-term disability, critical illness, accident, dental, vision, accidental death and dismemberment, and legal insurance.
“Employers are starting to recognize that worksite benefits have value that goes beyond giving their employees greater peace of mind and financial security,” Thornton said in the announcement. “They also help a business demonstrate that it cares about its workforce; both important to boosting employee morale, productivity and retention rates.”
The most popular worksite products are vision and dental insurance plans, followed by short-term and long-term disability, according to Thornton. Critical illness and accident insurance also are gaining, he said.
