School Search Solutions, the consumer division of education consultancy The School Choice Group, on Sept. 10 launched LEAP, a patented online survey tool designed to help families understand a school”™s “personality.”
Based in White Plains, The School Choice Group (SCG) was founded as a service for corporations in the process of relocating employees, with SCG working with those employees to help them find the right schools for their children.
SCG currently has two divisions: School Choice International, which works with corporations and their employees, and School Search Solutions, which works with individual families.
LEAP, which is short for Learning, Ethos, Achievement and Principles, is currently available in the beta phase for families seeking private schools in Manhattan, with new locations expected to be added over the coming year.
The database utilizes feedback from more than 70 independent schools and parents about each school”™s culture, teaching styles, discipline, bullying, spirituality, and the use of social media and cell phones, among other areas.
“We are delighted by the response of the New York independent school community to our efforts to elevate the school search process,” said SCG CEO Timothy Dwyer, in a statement. “I sense an eagerness to get past the one-dimensional labels that other search approaches have given them.”
