GNC kicks Off 40th anniversary celebration
Greenburg Nature Center (GNC), an environmental education center in Westchester, is kicking off its 40th anniversary celebration, “Keeping Westchester Wild.” For the celebration, the GNC has slated a number of projects, including: securing funding for the new Native Plant Meadow and Butterfly Pavilion; redeveloping paths and trails to increase accessibility and the user experience; construction of a new barn for animals and enhanced class space; building new green and sustainable business partnerships and launching a three-year campaign to restore the manor house and indoor animal exhibits.

Enea achieves lead counsel rating
Enea, Scanlan & Sirignano LLP, a law firm with offices in White Plains and Somers, announced that Anthony J. Enea, the firm”™s managing partner and elder law attorney, achieved a lead counsel rating in elder law by the Lead Counsel Review Board. The rating provides a tool for customers and businesses to evaluate an attorney”™s credibility. NWH receives national award
Mount Kisco”™s Northern Westchester Hospital (NWH) received the Center of Distinction Award, which was given to the hospital”™s Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine Program by Healogics Inc., a national provider of advanced wound care services. NWH”™s program achieved outstanding clinical outcomes for 12 consecutive months during the 2014 calendar year. There were 506 programs eligible for the award and only 72 achieved the honor.
Sastow joins firm
Brown, Gruttadaro, Gaujean & Prato LLC, a law firm with offices in White Plains, Rochester and New York City, welcomed Gary S. Sastow to its health care practice group. Sastow has more than 20 years experience in health care, general business and real estate law. FSW celebrates with Betances
Port Chester-based Family Services of Westchester (FSW), an organization that runs more than 50 social service and mental health programs, featured Dellin Betances, pitcher for the New York Yankees, to mark the beginning of operations at The Lanza Family Center for All Ages in White Plains, April 29. Armonk-based Swiss Re, a wholesale insurance provider and long time supporter of FSW”™s programs, sponsored the event.
The center, modeled after “My Second Home,” FSW”™s intergenerational program in Mount Kisco, brings children, teens and seniors together to participate in programs.
Children”™s Foundation honors Phillips
Yonkers”™ St. Elizabeth Seton Children”™s Foundation presented the second annual nursing mission award to Jillian M. Coar in honor of Miriam Kevin Phillips during a ceremony May 6. The foundation established this award to recognize a nurse practitioner or licensed practical nurse that exhibits a strong commitment to the community. Phillips is a member of the Sisters of Charity of New York and currently serves as the canonical secretary for the Sisters of Charity Council.
KeyBank Foundation donates to food pantry
Tarrytown-based KeyBank NA donated $2,500 to support the expansion of the Kraft Mobile Food Pantry for Westchester County. An initiative of The Food Bank for Westchester, an organization that impacts 200,000 residents who are at risk of hunger each month, the 36-foot Kraft Mobile Food Pantry allows flexibility to help underserved residents.
Kellogg teams with PC Construction
PC Construction, a construction company with an office in Poughkeepsie, appointed Ed Kellogg as regional manager for the company”™s Hudson Valley operations. A 30-year-old construction veteran who built some of the landmark projects across the Hudson Valley, Kellogg brings to PC Construction experience in construction project management and the region”™s business climate.
ADA announces father of the year honorees
The American Diabetes Association and the Westchester”™s Father”™s Day Council introduced four community leaders as 2015 Father of the Year honorees at a reception April 8 at Willow Ridge Country Club in Harrison. The recipients included: Andrew Benerofe, president, Benerofe Properties of White Plains; Ronald F. DeSoiza, partner, O”™Connor Davies LLP, Harrison; Richard Martinelli, chief operating officer and group publisher, Today Media Custom Communications, Rye; and Peter Mercurio, president and CEO, Westchester Health Associates, Katonah.
The annual award recognizes the hard work of fathers in their communities and provides a platform to promote awareness of diabetes. The event is being held June 11 at Trump National Golf Club in Briarcliff Manor.
Pets Alive joins fundraiser
Pets Alive, a no-kill animal sanctuary with locations in Middletown and Elmsford, is asking supporters to help with the Saving Pets Challenge fundraising campaign launched by Michelson Found Animals. The foundation is planning to donate more than $115,000 to organizations dedicated to decreasing shelter pet euthanasia, with $50,000 as the grand prize donation to the organization that raises the most money during the five-week challenge.
