EIC announces new board
Energy Improvement Corp., a New York nonprofit local development corporation that works with its member municipalities across the state to reduce energy waste and promote renewable energy sources, announced the election on April 2 of a new board consisting solely of municipal leaders.
EIC members elected the following leaders to its board: Abraham Zambrano, village manager of Croton-on-Hudson; Chris Burdick, supervisor of the town of Bedford; Susanne Donnelly, supervisor of the town of Ossining; Paul Feiner, supervisor of the town of Greenburgh; Michael Genito, commissioner of finance and budget director for the city of White Plains; Peter Parsons, supervisor of the town of Lewisboro; and Charles Strome, city manager of New Rochelle. Zambrano was elected chairman of the board.
The new board also elected the following officers: Mark Thielking as executive director, Kathryn Hoenig as vice president and chief operating officer, Daniel Killourhy as treasurer and Kim Kowalski as secretary.
After starting locally with a handful of grassroots volunteers and one employee in 2011, EIC has grown to 16 municipal members and a staff of 13 managing four programs: Energize NY (PACE) Finance, Energize NY Residential, Energize NY Commercial and Solarize Westchester.
Hope”™s Door honors Connolly
Pleasantville-based Hope”™s Door, a nonprofit seeking to end domestic violence and empower victims to achieve safety, independence and healing from the trauma of abuse, is celebrating 35 years of service to victims of domestic violence and their families throughout Westchester County. The Hope”™s Door Friends Committee is hosting the 35th annual spring gala Fri., April 24, at The Apawamis Club, Rye. Ingrid Connolly of Waccabuc is being honored for her dedication to Hope”™s Door”™s mission for more than two decades.

Rollins joins Leake & Watts board
Jody Rollins, a senior vice president for Chubb & Son in Westchester County, was appointed to the board of directors of Leake and Watts Services Inc. in Yonkers. She joins a board committed to Leake & Watts”™ work in turning around the lives of 8,000 vulnerable children, adults and families in the greater New York area each year.
White Plains Hospital designated
White Plains Hospital has been designated a Lung Cancer Screening Center by the American College of Radiology. The ACR Lung Cancer Screening Center recognizes facilities that have committed to practice safe, effective diagnostic care for individuals at the greatest for lung cancer. In order to receive designation, facilities must be accredited by the ACR in computed tomography in the chest module and must undergo a rigorous assessment of the facility”™s lung cancer screening protocol and infrastructure.
NICHE achievement
White Plains Hospital has been recognized for its commitment to the quality care of older adults by the NICHE (Nurses Improving Care for Healthsystem Elders) program. NICHE is a designation indicating a hospital”™s commitment to excellence in the care of patients 65 years and older. White Plains Hospital received the designation in 2012 and is one of only two hospitals in Westchester to receive NICHE Exemplar status.
Bariatric group adds office
NewYork-Presbyterian/Hudson Valley Hospital”™s New York Bariatric Group opened a new office in Fishkill to better serve area patients. The new office is at 200 Westage Business Center, Suite 314 in Fishkill. Eric Sommer, who performs bariatric surgery at the hospital, will see patients at the Fishkill office in addition to his current offices at 1985 Crompond Road, across from the hospital.
Schwartz selected for JCC Hudson board
Tarrytown”™s Jewish Community Center, a nonprofit, non sectarian community center, selected attorney Brad Schwartz to serve on its board of governors. A partner with Zarin & Steinmetz in White Plains since 2009, Schwartz began his career in the environmental department of Rosenman & Colin LLP (now Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP) in New York City.
Fundraiser set
Larchmont-based Julia B. Fee Sotheby”™s International Realty is partnering with Westchester County-based My Sisters”™ Place, an organization working to end domestic violence, to host “A Taste of Larchmont,” a restaurant crawl fundraiser, May 2, 3 to 5:30 p.m.
Tickets are $50 and additional donations will be raised through a company-held silent auction, featuring items donated from Larchmont merchants. All money will be donated to My Sisters”™ Place in support of its efforts to end domestic violence by helping victims and focusing on community education and prevention.

The College of Westchester’s scholarship fundraiser
The College of Westchester Charitable Foundation is holding its seventh annual scholarship fundraiser to honor 17 scholarship recipients, April 16, 5-7 p.m., DoubleTree by Hilton, 455 S. Broadway, Tarrytown. Tara Rosenblum from News 12 Westchester will emcee the event, sponsored by companies including GenRe, DataKey Consulting and Citibank, among others. The fundraising event is also running an online auction, which includes Yankee tickets, U.S. Open tickets, cooking classes and more.

Larchmont-based Julia B. Fee Sotheby”™s International Realty appointed Janet Demasi as a sales agent in the firm”™s Larchmont brokerage. Malacoff joins Orange Regional Medical Group
Orange Regional Medical Group appointed Robert F. Malacoff to the medical practice group as a board-certified cardiologist and electrophysiologist, treating patients at both Orange Regional Medical Group and Catskill Regional Medical Group.
Malacoff has been providing cardiology care for more than 35 years, most recently delivering care to patients at Lehigh Valley Heart Specialists in Allentown, Pa. He received his medical degree from Yale University.
Sherman earns new designation
Thomas Sherman, financial specialist and adviser with Strategies for Wealth, a financial firm with an office in Rye Brook, earned the Retirement Income Certified Professional (RICP) professional designation from The American College, Bryn Mawr, Pa.
Candidates for the RICP designation must complete a minimum of three college-level courses and are required to pass a series of two-hour proctored exams. They must also have at least three years experience, meet stringent ethics requirements and participate in the college”™s continuing education program.
Sidewalk Angels deliver $80,000 for animals
Pets Alive, a nonprofit no-kill animal rescue and advocacy organizations with locations in Middletown and Elmsford, received a $80,000 donation from New York City-based Sidewalk Angels Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to providing critically needed funds and support to grassroots groups nationwide. The donation is in support of Pets Alive”™s mission to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home animals in need.
Youngster raises funds for USO
Jake Gallin, a 12-year-old seventh-grader at Albert Leonard Middle School in New Rochelle, has raised more than $12,000 for the United States Organizations Inc. (USO) by designing and selling star-shaped magnetic car decals that honor families of soldiers who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. Last summer, Gallin sent more than 7,000 letters to New York state schools, school superintendents and government officials urging them to make an announcement recognizing military members and their families on Memorial Day, Patriot Day and Veterans Day.
ENTA adds to team
White Plains-based ENT and Allergy Associates appointed two new partners/practice owners, Adrianna Hekiert and Francisca Yao.
Hekiert sees adult and pediatric patients in the Bridgewater, N.J., office. She graduated from the College of Saint Rose in Albany and received her medical degree from the Albany Medical College.
Yao sees adult and pediatric patients in both the Bay Ridge West and Brooklyn Heights offices. She holds a bachelor”™s in biology from Cornell University and a medical degree from Drexel University.
Mandelker elected a fellow
Manhattan-based Kantor Davidoff, a law firm, announced that its senior partner, Lawrence A. Mandelker, was elected a Fellow of the New York Bar Foundation. Limited to just 1 percent of New York State Bar Association members, the Fellows of the foundation are chosen because they exemplify the profession”™s core values and serve as stewards of the legal system.
Poughkeepsie Farm Project signs new lease
The Poughkeepsie Farm Project, a nonprofit farm in the town of Poughkeepsie, signed a new lease with Vassar College that ensures its stability for the next 25 years. Vassar College, which owns the land where the 10-acre farm is located, will receive $1,000 a year, according to terms of the new agreement.
