Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide has launched its Four Points by Sheraton brand in Newburgh following a multimillion-dollar conversion of the former Comfort Inn at 5 Lakeside Road.
Four Points by Sheraton Newburgh is expected to draw travelers using Stewart International Airport, less than two miles from the hotel.
“My goal was to bring an internationally recognized brand to Newburgh, offering a new level of service to the area,” said Jonathan Lifschutz, owner and operator of the new Sheraton.
Lifschutz, president and CEO of JSL Hotel & Great Palace Realty LLC in Newburgh, said there has been a growing need and demand for a more “sophisticated” level of lodging in the area.
“Through market statistical analysis and reports, I have seen first-hand that guests want better hotel products in secondary markets like Newburgh,” he said.
The new hotel features 124 rooms and amenities that include a 24-hour fitness center, large event spaces and a heated outdoor pool. Four Points by Sheraton is Starwood’s fastest growing brand, said Brian McGuinness, Stamford-based Starwood’s vice president of specialty select brands.
