Teva Pharmaceuticals closing Rockland plant

Teva Pharmaceuticals USA Inc. filed a WARN notice with the state that it will be closing its manufacturing plant in Pomona.

The plant, which produces pharmaceutical products, will close in April with 11 employees being laid off. The company said it plans on transferring manufacturing operations to another site. Layoffs will be completed within two years.

There are 325 employees on site, with 100 workers in the manufacturing division.

Teva, headquartered in Israel, plans to cut almost $2 billion in costs over the next five years. Teva shares are 43 percent below its high in 2010. Teva recently sold its animal health division to Bayer for $145 million.
