Green Chimneys, a residential school for at-risk children in Brewster, recently accepted a $5,000 “Give Kids A Smile” grant from the New York State Dental Foundation.
On March 19, Laura Leone, the Dental Foundation”™s executive director, center, presented the check to Green Chimneys”™ Executive Director Joe Whalen and to resident dentist Dr. Roderick “Rick” MacRae.
The check was presented to the school in front of its new Henry J. and Erna D. Leih Health and Wellness Center, a $1.5 million facility that opened on the school”™s grounds in spring 2009 and where Dr. MacRae”™s new dental office is now located.
MacRae sees between 400-600 students each year. “Green Chimneys strives to be the best residential facility in New York and with our focus on quality and our new health center and dorms, we will be one of the best facilities in the country,” said Whalen. “We are truly honored to have Dr. MacRae as our campus dentist and to be recognized for our dental program.”
