Durham School Services, an Illinois-based school bus and transportation company, will close its Poughkeepsie plant in October, according to a notice filed with the state Department of Labor this month.
A total of 76 employees will be laid off when the plant at 10-14 Tucker Drive closes on Oct. 15. According to the notice, the reason for the plant closing was a loss of contract with the Spackenkill and Rhinebeck school districts.
In April, Durham School Services said it would also be closing its plant in Rochester and would lay off 142 workers due to a loss of contract with Rochester City School District. That plant closed Thursday.
According to its website, Durham, a subsidiary of National Express LLC, transports more than 1 million students in 32 states each day in the U.S.
