Graduates of Westchester Community College who are interested in pursuing a four-year degree at Pace University in Pleasantville can begin submitting applications for scholarships through a program started by the schools this year.
For students who have earned an associate degree from WCC and are seeking a bachelor”™s at the Pace, the university is offering an annual scholarship of $25,000 in tuition credit.
Eligible students must be enrolled for classes at the Pleasantville campus; the scholarship is not available for participants in the iPace online degree program. Students must be enrolled full time and maintain a 3.2 grade point average. Students also are required to have graduated from WCC with a minimum GPA of 3.2.
The scholarship should offset about 60 percent of the first year”™s tuition cost, according to a joint press release from the schools. There is no limit to the number of scholarships awarded, and the program will begin with students enrolling for the 2015-16 school year.
The program was developed as a “concrete response to the often prohibitive cost young people face to obtain a four-year degree,” a statement from the schools said, and will help limit student loan debt.
Students may apply online at pace.edu/transfer through the summer.
