The newly expanded park and ride in New Paltz was reopened last week, according to the New York State Thruway Authority and Department of Transportation (DOT).
The parking lot was expanded by 75 spaces, to a total of 145. The state DOT provided $350,000 to help finance the project.
“The Department of Transportation and the Thruway Authority are encouraging car pooling and bus ridership, two behaviors that ease congestion by taking cars off the road and help improve the quality of our air,” said DOT Commissioner Astrid Glynn in a prepared statement.
The Interchange 18 park and ride, off Interstate 87, had been closed since July for the construction required to add the spaces.
