Health Quest Urgent Care gets new medical director
Shantala Sonnad has been named the new medical director of Health Quest Urgent Care. She is board certified in family medicine and has worked with Health Quest Urgent Care since March 2013.
“Dr. Sonnad is a wonderful leader with a commitment to the Hudson Valley community,” said Robert Kirk, president of Health Quest Physician Enterprise, which oversees all of Health Quest”™s physician practices. “Under her direction, our urgent care centers will continue to enhance the health care of Dutchess County residents.”
Sonnad followed in the footsteps of her father, who is also a family physician. After receiving her bachelor”™s degree from Albion College, she traveled to India to study various aspects of international medicine. She then earned her medical degree from Ross University and received her clinical training throughout Queens and Brooklyn. Sonnad completed her residency training at McLaren Regional Medical Center in Flint, Mich.
Health Quest”™s urgent care centers are located in LaGrangeville and Wappingers Falls.
Lee joins ColumbiaDoctors
JOSEPH M. LEE has joined ColumbiaDoctors of the Hudson Valley in Suffern, a provider of cardiovascular and internal medicine services to residents of the lower Hudson Valley. Lee is a board-certified cardiologist with a focus on echocardiography and cardiac electrophysiology.
Lee is an assistant attending physician at the New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia. He is board-certified in cardiovascular disease, clinical cardiac electrophysiology, vascular ultrasound and internal medicine and is board eligible in comprehensive echocardiography and nuclear cardiology.
Lee earned a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry and a Master of Science degree in biological engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He completed medical school at Temple University School of Medicine, where he was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honor Society. Lee completed his residency and fellowships in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, clinical cardiac electrophysiology and cardiovascular imaging at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/ Weill Cornell Medical Center.
Foundation names new vice president
Elant Inc., a provider of senior health and housing services, has named MELISSA MCCOY vice president of the Elant Foundation and community relations.
McCoy, who previously served as director of corporate initiatives for the organization, has nearly three decades of experience in community service, fundraising, event planning and project management. In her new position, she will be responsible for overseeing the operations of the Elant Foundation, the organization”™s not-for-profit fundraising arm and lead Elant”™s efforts to collaborate with businesses and communities throughout the Hudson Valley.
“Since joining us in 2011, she has successfully implemented a number of key programs and initiatives that have helped improve our residents”™ quality of life and the services available to them and has increased regional awareness of our organization and its mission,” said Todd A. Whitney, president and CEO of Elant.
Prior to joining Elant, McCoy was the owner and president of Design Perceptions L.L.C., where she led a number of projects for various government agencies, businesses and organizations across New York.
ORMC exec receives certification
DeborahAnn Carroll, director of outpatient diagnostic imaging at Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown, has obtained her certification from the Radiology Administration Certification Commission and the Association for Medical Imaging Management as a certified radiology administrator.
The certification is recognized by the industry as the gold standard for diagnostic imaging leadership credentialing. Its exam tests in five areas: human resource management, asset resource management, fiscal management, operations management and communications and information management.
Carroll joined the leadership ranks at Orange Regional in 2008 and has been instrumental in the development of numerous major projects in diagnostic imaging, including development of Orange Regional”™s PET/CT service line and most recently the diagnostic imaging outpatient service excellence program. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in nuclear medicine from SUNY Buffalo and a master”™s degree in health administration from the University of Phoenix.
New dean at Vassar College
Vassar College in Poughkeepsie has named Art Rodriguez to be the new dean of admission and financial aid. Rodriguez was the senior associate dean and director of admissions at Pomona College in Claremont, Calif. He will begin his new position Sept. 1.
He began his career at Pomona in 2000 and has also served there as assistant, associate and acting dean of admissions.
Prior to Pomona, Rodriguez served as director of multicultural affairs and director of the pre-freshman math and science program at Carleton College in Northfield, Minn. He graduated from Carleton with a Bachelor”™s of Arts degree in environmental geochemistry, and from Harvard University with a Master of Education degree in administration, planning and social policy.
Elant names HR vice president
Goshen-based Elant, a provider of senior health and housing services, has named JANET GIANNETTA as vice president of human resources.
Giannetta is a senior-level human resources professional with years of experience in the areas of employee and labor relations, recruitment, organizational development, professional development, employee retention and compliance with state and federal labor laws.
Over the course of her career, Giannetta has served in various industries, including health care, manufacturing and finance, and has demonstrated particular expertise in balancing employee advocacy with the needs of businesses and organizations. In the past, she was the regional human resources director for Wingate Healthcare in Needham, Mass., where she oversaw the HR needs of more than 1,500 employees across nine skilled-nursing facilities. Prior to that she was director of human resources for Imperial Schrade Corp. in Ellenville and the Dominican Sisters of Hope in Newburgh.
Giannetta earned a bachelor”™s degree from SUNY at Geneseo and is a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources. She completed post-graduate studies at Marist College and SUNY New Paltz, focusing on business and education.
Pucino receives Stonier diploma
ROCCO J. PUCINO III, senior branch manager at Ulster Savings Bank in New Paltz, recently graduated from the American Bankers Association (ABA) Stonier Graduate School of Banking at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
Stonier is ABA”™s national graduate school of banking, a three-year program for bank executives. Students are from the United States and international banks of all sizes, as well as state and federal regulatory agencies and other financial services organizations. In addition to the Stonier diploma, students receive a leadership certificate from University of Pennsylvania”™s Wharton School.
A graduate of the Ulster Leadership Development Institute, a leadership training program sponsored by the Ulster County Chamber of Commerce, Pucino is also a former board member and secretary of the Rondout Valley Business Association. He serves as vice president of the New Paltz Rotary Club.
ORMC earns new honors
ORANGE REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER was re-accredited by the CEO Roundtable On Cancer with the CEO Cancer Gold Standard, acknowledging its commitment to the health of its employees and their families by agreeing to meet a high standard of cancer prevention, screening and care guidelines.
To earn Gold Standard accreditation, an organization must establish programs to reduce cancer risk by discouraging tobacco use, encouraging physical activity, promoting healthy nutrition, detecting cancer at its earliest stages when outcomes may be more favorable and providing access to quality care, including participation in cancer clinical trials and employee wellness programs.
“Orange Regional is committed to providing quality care for the community and values the importance of the health and wellness of its employees too,” said Deborah Holmes, RN, an employee health nurse.
Holmes was instrumental in collecting data from various hospital departments that are dedicated to promoting healthy living practices among hospital employees and submitting it as part of an application for the 2014 CEO Cancer Gold Standard re-accreditation.
