Bank adds to mortgage team
ULSTER SAVINGS BANK recently appointed DAVID VANDEWATER as a mortgage specialist in the bank”™s Red Hook branch on South Broadway.
A Poughkeepsie resident, VanDeWater, has more than 12 years of mortgage-lending experience. In his new position, he will be able to offer customers a wide variety of mortgage-loan products and services tailored to their particular needs.
“David is a great addition to our Red Hook mortgage-lending team,” said Christopher Rosenbergen, vice president of residential mortgage lending. “Our customers will benefit greatly from his experience and familiarity with the lending needs of individuals and families in the Red Hook area and throughout northern Dutchess County.”
Museum names new board member
LISA KELLY, Focus Media”™s key account director, has been named to the Hudson Highlands Nature Museum board of directors.
“The organization”™s mission of developing responsible caretakers of the natural world through its special focus on environmental education is one that I firmly believe in and support,” Kelly said. “I look forward to leveraging my professional expertise for the benefit of the museum and to achieving new milestones in conjunction with the board.”
Kelly also serves on the American Cancer Society”™s regional board and has served on committees for several community organizations.

Adler named to national group
ANITA ADLER, director of nursing informatics and decision support at Orange Regional Medical Center has been selected as an item writer or test question writer for the American Nurses Credentialing Center”™s (ANCC) Informatics Nursing exam.
An organization that promotes excellence in nursing and health care globally through credentialing programs, ANCC recruits qualified nurses to serve as item writers for professional certification examinations across many nursing specialties.
Adler earned her applied sciences degree in nursing from Rockland Community College, her bachelor”™s degree in psychology from CUNY”™s College of Staten Island and a master”™s degree in nurse-midwifery from Stony Brook University. She is a certified nurse midwife and holds certifications in ANCC Informatics Nursing and EpicCare Inpatient Clinical Documentation.
Mount St. Mary scholars honored
SISTER DIANE KENNEDY, the vice president for mission and ministry of Dominican University in Illinois, recently congratulated some of Mount St. Mary College”™s brightest scholars.
Kennedy, a member of the Sinsinawa Dominicans, was an integral part of Spirit of the Mount Week, which celebrates the Dominican Sisters who began the college community.
Kennedy presented the college”™s Aquinas and Ralph Scholars with their honor cords, to be worn at graduation. Aquinas Scholars are juniors or seniors with a minimum GPA of 3.60. Ralph Scholars are sophomores with a GPA of 3.40 or greater, who have received the recommendation of at least two faculty members.
ORMC director named to national post
FRANK SALVATORE, director of respiratory services, sleep medicine and the wound healing center at Orange Regional Medical Center was installed as the 2014 president-elect of the American Association of Respiratory Care (AARC) Nov, 17, at its annual business meeting in Anaheim, Calif.
With more than 50,000 members nationwide, the AARC is the leading national and international professional association for respiratory care. Salvatore is a fellow of the AARC and has been a member for more than 25 years. He earned his bachelor”™s degree in respiratory therapy from the University of Hartford and received a master”™s degree in business administration from the University of Phoenix.
Bank adds mortgage specialist
SHAWN SIMMONS has joined Ulster Savings Bank as a mortgage specialist in the bank”™s 39 Burnett Boulevard, Poughkeepsie, branch.
A Poughkeepsie resident, Simmons brings more than 18 years of residential lending experience to his new position at Ulster Savings. He will offer the bank”™s full complement of mortgage products and services to customers throughout Dutchess County.
Simmons received his New York state mortgage originator”™s license and has maintained affiliations with local mortgage/lending associations, including the Dutchess County Association of Realtors.
PHC adds medical staff
PUTNAM HOSPITAL CENTER BOARD OF DIRECTORS recently approved the appointment of five new members to the Carmel-based hospital medical staff. The new members are:
JOSEPHA GRECH of Poughquag, an emergency medicine physician assistant affiliated with EOS Medical Group, received her Bachelor of Science degree and physician assistant degree from Pace University. She is a board-certified physician assistant.
THOMAS KAROFF of Armonk, an internist affiliated with Mount Kisco Medical Group, received his medical degree from the University of New England. His postdoctoral training included an internship and residency in internal medicine at St. Barnabas Hospital Karoff is board-certified in internal medicine.
JASON E. KUBERT of New Paltz, an emergency medicine physician affiliated with EOS Medical Group, received his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh. His post-doctoral training included a residency in emergency medicine at Orlando Regional Medical Center. Kubert is board-certified in emergency medicine.
STEPHANIE G. MIDGLEY of Hopewell Junction, an emergency medicine physician affiliated with EOS Medical Group, received her medical degree from SUNY Downstate Medical Center. Her post-doctoral training included a residency in emergency medicine and a fellowship in emergency medicine/ultrasound at Rhode Island Hospital.
JAMES NITZKORSKI of Pleasant Valley, a surgical oncologist affiliated with Health Quest Medical Practice-General Surgery, received his medical degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo. His post-doctoral training included an internship and residency in surgery at St. Luke”™s-Roosevelt Hospital and a fellowship in surgical oncology at the Fox Chase Cancer Center.
