New officers at ORMC Foundation
MARGARET SMITH has been selected as secretary of the board of trustees of the Orange Regional Medical Center Foundation in Middletown. Smith, president and CEO of First Federal Savings of Middletown has served on the board since 2009.
HOWARD PROTTER was appointed member-at-large to the executive committee of the board. Protter has served on the board since 2010 and is a partner with Jacobowitz & Gubits L.L.P. specializing in municipal law.

New exec at Catholic Community Services
SISTER FRAN GORSUCH has been appointed executive of the board of trustees of the Catholic Community Services of Rockland, the Haverstraw-based nonprofit. Gorsuch is director of community initiative at Bon Secours Charity Health System.
Previously she was board secretary of the human services agency that serves non-Catholics and Catholics in the entire county under its mission banner “Meet the Need.” The agency provides food to Rockland”™s hungry, helps families avoid eviction, assists in emergency utilities payments and provides resource services for immigrants. The agency has recently received accolades for its fresh-grown produce program for Rockland”™s neediest.
First Niagara expands team
SENIOR CREDIT MANAGER LAURENTIA (LAURIE) PRICE has joined First Niagara Financial Group Inc.”™s commercial banking team. She will lead a team of underwriters and two regional credit managers, who are responsible for ensuring the credit quality of First Niagara”™s middle market and business banking portfolios, and for overseeing underwriting activities for the tristate and New England regions. She will maintain offices in First Niagara”™s New Haven, Conn., and Nyack regional offices, and will report directly to Nancy Cinfio, senior vice president and senior director of credit risk and approval.
“Laurie brings 30 years of successful middle-market credit experience to the senior credit officer position,” Cinfio said. “In her previous leadership roles, she has used her extensive middle-market knowledge to effectively manage commercial and business banking portfolios and guide the loan approval processes. We are pleased to welcome Laurie to the First Niagara team.”
Price joins First Niagara from Integritas Inc., where she served as CFO for the past two years. Prior to Integritas, Price was with Webster Bank from 2001 to 2011 most recently as senior vice president and chief credit approval officer. She has also held various credit and portfolio management positions at AmSouth Bank in Birmingham, Ala., and Shawmut Bank, N.A.
Price has a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Mount Holyoke College.
PARC director receives award
RAND BRIDGET OTTEN, director of development and outreach for Putnam ARC, the leading provider of services for children and adults with developmental disabilities in Putnam County, received the Distinguished Service Award from the Putnam Community Service Network (PCSN) at its annual award breakfast.
Otten, who received the Katie O”™Donnell Award of Excellence for Leadership from the Cold Spring Area Chamber of Commerce earlier this year, celebrates her 11th year with PARC this month. She was nominated by Putnam County Tourism director and former New York state first lady Libby Pataki, who noted Otten”™s passion for fundraising and increasing the profile of both PARC and Partners with PARC. “She understands people, places and businesses and is a wiz at marketing and advertising,” wrote Pataki. “Rand is a remarkable, energetic woman who is dedicated to her profession and to her community.”
New account exec at insurance business
DANIEL W. TROGE, an insurance account executive has joined Ulster Insurance Services Inc., a subsidiary of Ulster Savings Bank. He will maintain offices at both to Ulster Savings Bank”™s Poughkeepsie branches ”“ 39 Burnett Boulevard and 2680 South Road.
A SUNY Albany graduate, Troge received the certified professional insurance agent (CPIA) designation from the Professional Insurance Agents Association of New York state. With 27 years of insurance experience, Troge specializes in offering affordable insurance solutions to both retail and commercial clients. He is very active in his community, including involvement with local Boy Scouts and 4H organizations, the East Fishkill Conservation Advisory Council and the Fishkill Creek Watershed Association, where he serves as treasurer. He is also a past president of the White Pond Community Arts and Cultural Center in Stormville.
New director of marketing
Stanley Satty has joined NetPublications Inc., a Poughkeepsie-based printer and book publisher as director of marketing.
In this role, the Stamford, Conn., resident will lead execution of marketing initiatives and sales.
“We are delighted to have Stanley join our team,” said William Grogg, president of NetPublications. “He brings a wealth of marketing experience with him, including developing marketing strategies and leading new business initiatives. Satty worked for MasterCard International for 16 years in various roles, most recently as vice president of marketing. His roles included positions in product management, new product development, advertising and customer loyalty. He holds an MBA in marketing from the NYU Stern School of Business and Bachelor of Science degree in ommunications from Ohio University, Athens.
New faces at Salvation Army in Rockland
MAJORS MARCUS and JOY JUGENHEIMER have been appointed coordinators of The Salvation Army Rockland County Corps. They replace Major Philip A. Lloyd and his wife Major Jodi Lloyd, who served in the county for three years. The Jugenheimers hail from Ohio and have provided leadership to Salvation Army Corps in Connecticut, Staten Island and oversaw the Salvation Army”™s youth program in New Jersey.
While their appointment from Ohio to Rockland is new, Rockland is familiar territory for the couple. Twenty years ago, Marcus and Joy met as students at the Salvation Army”™s School for Officer Training in Suffern, where they would later celebrate their wedding ceremony. Originally from Salem, Ohio, Marcus”™s relationship with the Salvation Army started as a teenager as he served as a volunteer at a Salvation Army Summer Day Camp program. After graduating from high school, Marcus attended the University of Toledo before completing his bachelor”™s degree at Nyack College in Nyack. Marcus was ordained as an officer (minister) in the Salvation Army in 1994. Joy”™s family has been involved in the Salvation Army for six generations and her parents also served as Salvation Army officers. Joy completed her bachelor”™s degree at Houghton College and her master”™s degree from Bethel Seminary. Joy was ordained as an officer in the Salvation Army in 1995.
Architect receives design award
MICHAEL R. BERTA of Poughkeepsie is the winner of a 2013 Pinnacle Award for Best Renovation (Architecture) for a North Salem home.
“Pinnacle awards are offered for outstanding performance,” said Catherine Hyland, BAHV executive director. “We are pleased Michael Berta won an award again in 2013. We value our relationship with him and his architectural expertise in association with the Hudson Valley building industry.”
The award-winning house at 577 Grant Road is the home of Rosa and Zachary Schulman. The almost 4,000-square-foot renovation included the redesign of the first floor and entranceway plus the addition of a second floor onto the original single-story ranch house. A second garage was added to accommodate an antique and classic car collection. The house is situated on a 10-acre site with seasonal views of the New York City skyline.
Berta has also completed commercial projects such as the Sonoma Café, now Eveready Diner, Highlands Place Shopping Center, Brewster; 376 Business Park, Wappingers; and a conversion of the former Fargo Manufacturing facility into a 100,000-square-foot Hudson Valley Marketplace, an indoor swap/flea market, Salt Point Turnpike, in Poughkeepsie.
Agency earns three awards
FOCUS MEDIA INC., an advertising and public relations firm, has received three American Graphic Design Awards from Graphic Design USA magazine. Senior art director Kathryn Houghtaling, associate art director Emily Garozzo, senior web and graphic designer Kevin Green and designer Mary-Ann Ellsworth were honored for their outstanding work in publication and Internet design.
The national awards, which are given out annually, recognize graphic design work across many categories, ranging from print and packaging to web and interactive design. This is the second consecutive year Graphic Design USA magazine has recognized the firm with awards.
The agency received awards for its work with three of its clients: Monticello Motor Club (publication design); Hudson Valley Economic Development Corp. (Internet design); and Judelson, Giordano & Siegel CPA, PC (Internet design).
The American Graphic Design Awards competition is open to all in the field of graphic arts and design, including advertising agencies, design firms, publishers and more. More than 8,000 entries were submitted from across the country; only 15 percent were recognized with certificates of excellence. Graphic Design USA is a publication for graphic designers and other creative professionals across the country.
