Hyde Park may seem a world away from Singapore, but when it comes to culinary arts, Earth is a small planet.
Singapore, as a key seaport connecting major oceanic trade routes, has long enjoyed a reputation as a foodie paradise, with the cuisine of many cultures creating a sort of culinary melting pot. And now, that reputation will be further flavored, with the announcement of a CIA satellite campus.
But this is no spy thriller. In this case, the CIA refers to the Culinary Institute of America of Hyde Park which is collaborating with the Singapore Institute of Technology and Temasek Polytechnic to begin offering a bachelor”™s degree program in culinary arts management in Singapore early next year.
The degree program will be available exclusively to graduates of polytechnic institutions who have earned their diplomas in hospitality and tourism management, leisure and resort management, or culinary and catering management, as well as to other hospitality, tourism and culinary diploma program graduates.
Temasek Polytechnic worked with the CIA to design a new 30,000-square-foot educational facility that includes three professional teaching kitchens.
The new CIA-Singapore campus building is to be completed next month, and the first class of bachelor”™s degree students will start classes in January.
