With New Year’s Eve only a few days away, revelers who are welcoming 2024 in New Orleans are paying the most expensive prices in the world for hotels over the upcoming holiday weekend.
A new survey by TravelMag.com compared double room accommodation rates from Dec. 30 to Jan. 2 across 60 major global cities ranked New Orleans as the priciest city, where the cheapest hotel rooms go for $1,190 per night – a 182% spike from the city’s regular rates during January.
Miami Beach ranked second with rates of $1,184 for a three-night stay while New York City – which is the center of national attention with its annual Times Square festivities – ranked third at $1,164. Sydney and Rio de Janeiro came out as the most expensive non-U.S. destinations, with minimum rates of $1,089 and $1,087, respectively.
As for the least expensive destinations in the world to spend New Year’s Eve, Vietnam’s capital of Hanoi and Cambodia’s capital of Phnom Penh have hotel rooms for below $40 per night.
