MidHudson Regional Hospital of Westchester Medical Center in Poughkeepsie has expanded its Redl Center for Cancer Care to include a center that provides breast imaging services and consultations.
The Women”™s Imaging Center, which opened Monday, provides mammograms, ultrasounds and bone density scans, with same-day results and consultations, in addition to stereotactic and ultrasound biopsy procedures.
“(Herb and Sue Ann) Redls”™ gift is revolutionizing cancer care in this hospital and in this region,” said Dr. Lawrence Koutcher, medical director of the Redl Center, in a statement. The Redl name, he said, “will be synonymous with top-level oncology care in the Hudson Valley.”
In addition to new equipment, the Women”™s Imaging Center features a private waiting room with refreshments, plush robes, private consultation rooms and a boutique for women who need to be fitted for prosthetics and/or a wig.
“Women may be anxious when they go for imaging or treatment,” said Dr. Diana Silverman, the breast program leader, in a statement. “By providing this warm environment and highly trained staff we can alleviate some of that anxiety.”
