Two physicians with practices in Westchester County were elected to top leadership positions in the Medical Society of the State of New York at the group”™s 208th House of Delegates meeting this month in Tarrytown.
Dr. Andrew Y. Kleinman, a plastic surgeon, was elected president of the state medical society for 2014 after serving as president-elect last year. Kleinman has a private practice in Rye Brook and is on the plastic surgical staff of Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital.
Kleinman has held several leadership positions in the Westchester County Medical Society, including a term as president. He is currently vice president of the state medical society”™s ninth district, which represents physicians in several counties. He is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and past president of the New York State Society of Plastic Surgeons.
A member of the state medical society since 1992, Kleinman has served as commissioner of the organization”™s socio-economics division, which oversees all health insurance issues. He was a councilor for six years and has been part of the medical society’s delegation to the American Medical Association for the past five years. He currently is chairman of the society”™s professional ethics and medical conduct committee and its long-range planning committee. Kleinman also serves on the long-term care and legislative and physician advocacy committees.
Dr. Kira A. Geraci-Ciardullo, a Mamaroneck allergist, was re-elected vice speaker of the state medical society at the April 12 delegates meeting. She is only the second woman to serve in that position.
Geraci-Ciardullo has been in private practice for 29 years. She is on staff at New York Presbyterian Hospital, Westchester Medical Center, Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital and White Plains Hospital Center, where she recently completed a five-year term as chief of allergy. She teaches at both Weill Medical College of Cornell University and at New York Medical College in Valhalla.
An active medical society member for over 14 years, she currently serves on its committees for quality improvement, emergency preparedness, and preventive medicine and family health. She is also a member of the society’s Medical, Educational and Scientific Foundation and one of the society”™s delegates to the American Medical Association.
Geraci-Ciardullo has served as president of the Westchester County Medical Society, the Westchester Academy of Medicine and the Westchester Allergy Society.
A Briarcliff Manor resident, Dr. Malcolm D. Reid, was elected vice president of the state medical society at the recent delegates convention. He practices medicine at hospitals in Manhattan.
Reid is an associate medical director and site chairman of the department of physical medicine at Mount Sinai – Roosevelt Hospital and Mount Sinai – St. Luke’s Hospital. He is also an assistant professor of rehabilitation medicine at Mount Sinai”™s Icahn School of Medicine.
