The hospitals under the Health Quest, umbrella ”“ Putnam Hospital Center in Carmel; Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck; and Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie ”“ will host “Ladies”™ Night Out with Zainab Salbi ”“ A Healthcare Forum for Women” on Thursday, Nov. 19 from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Fishkill Holiday Inn.
Health care professionals from each of the three hospitals will discuss a variety of timely topics of interest to women:
Dr. Barbara Chatr-Aryamontri, medical director of the Northern Dutchess Hospital Sleep Center will discuss the “Quest for Peaceful Slumber: The Health Benefits of Sleep and Diagnostic Tools for Sleep Problems,” examining the possible surprising causes of your restless nights and techniques to help you sleep through the night.
Psychiatric nurse practitioner Susan M. Perkins of Putnam Hospital Center will discuss what creates stress and how it specifically affects women. Perkins will review how to recognize symptoms of stress and what to do about them in her discussion, “I Just Can”™t Take It Anymore! Dealing With Stress and Its Adverse Effects”.
“An Evolution in Gynecologic Surgery for Women,” presented by Dr. Donna Kasello of Vassar Brothers Medical Center will examine the da Vinci Robotic Surgical System.
The evening will culminate with keynote speaker Zainab Salb, founder of Women for Women International, a nonprofit organization that supports women in war-torn regions of the world with financial and emotional aid, job-skills training, rights education and small business assistance so they can rebuild their lives.
Salbi will discuss her most recent book, “The Other Side of War: Women”™s Stories of Survival and Hope,” chronicling the stories of women who overcame the horrors of war and rebuilt their families and countries.
Health Quest”™s “Ladies Night Out” includes dinner and a cash bar. Tickets for individuals are $60. Reservations including full payment are required prior to Nov. 9. Tables of 10 may be reserved in advance but there is no priority seating. Reservations with credit card information can be faxed to 483-6064 or mailed with payment.
