Orange Regional Medical Center”™s Arden Hill Campus in Goshen has enhanced its surgical services with the new DaVinci Si HD 3D Surgical System. This state-of-the-art, advanced technology integrates 3-D high-definition endoscopy and state-of-the-art robotic technology to virtually extend the surgeon”™s eyes and hands into the surgical field with extreme clarity.
This technology enhances a surgeon’s ability to perform minimally invasive surgical procedures, thereby enabling patients to recover more quickly and with fewer adverse side effects.  Initially, this technology will be used for surgeries related to urology and gynecology.  Â
“The Da Vinci Si HD 3D System provides surgeons more than twice the viewing resolution and 20 percent more viewing area,” said Jonathan Schiller, Orange Regional”™s vice president of the Arden Hill Campus. “This means improved clarity and detail of tissue and anatomy, which is critical when performing delicate dissections or reconstructive procedures. This means a better operation for the patient with reduced complications, shorter hospital stays and faster recovery time.”
The system cannot be programmed nor can it make decisions on its own. It requires that every surgical maneuver be performed with direct input from the surgeon. Studies show that patients whose surgical procedures are performed using this robotic technology may benefit from shorter hospital stays, reduced risk of infection, less blood loss and a quicker return to normal daily activities.
