The 150-physician Westchester Medical Group plans to consolidate its corporate offices this fall at a new location in Purchase.
The physician-owned multispecialty practice will lease about 32,000 square feet for administrative and clerical operations at 2700 Westchester Ave., a four-story, approximately 122,000-square-foot building that last February came under the control of New Jersey-based Normandy Real Estate Partners.Â
Dr. Simeon Schwartz, president of Westchester Medical Group, said he expects to move in October after the Purchase space is built out. About 15,000 square feet of vacated office space at the WMG center at 210 Westchester Ave. in Harrison will be replaced with clinical services, including a new anatomical pathology lab.
Schwartz said an approximately 8,000-square-foot office at 222 Westchester Ave. will be closed as billing operations there are relocated to Purchase. A WMG call center at 3020 Westchester Ave. also will be moved to the new headquarters. With about 700 employees including physicians, Westchester Medical Group has offices at 11 locations in White Plains, Harrison, Purchase, Rye, Scarsdale and Yonkers.
While readying for the headquarters move, the physician-managed practice expects construction to begin in late August on an approximately 14,500-square-foot, $7.1-million ambulatory surgery center at WMG”™s 1 Theall Road medical complex in Rye. That project is due to be completed by Jan. 1, 2010, Schwartz said.
At 2700 Westchester Ave., WMG will occupy one of the 14 buildings included in the 1.6-million-square-foot office campus portfolio along I-287 until recently called the Platinum Mile. In February, the Platinum Mile”™s managing owner, RXR Realty L.L.C., formerly RexCorp Realty L.L.C., turned over management of the Platinum Mile buildings to a new partner and investor in its Westchester commercial properties, Normandy. The private real estate company, based in Morristown, N.J., has since renamed its Westchester office campus portfolio The Exchange and retained Newmark Knight Frank”™s Connecticut/Westchester office as leasing agent here.      Â
