Phelps Memorial Hospital Center in Sleepy Hollow recently elected five new members to its board of directors: Patricia Armstrong, Dr. Tobe Banc, David Swope, Kenneth Taber and Dr. Craig Zalvan.
Each board member serves a three-year term and can serve up to three terms.
Armstrong, an Irvington resident, is retired from the cable television industry, where she spent more than 30 years in primarily corporate roles, including as senior vice president of investor relations.
Banc, a Briarcliff Manor resident, is Phelps’ assistant medical director, and also serves as director of palliative care services and director of senior health and internal medicine. She is also medical director of Kendal on Hudson, a continuing care retirement community on the Phelps campus.
Swope, an Ossining resident, is the president of County Homes LLC, a real estate investment company, and the owner of Tappan Hill, a catering facility in Tarrytown. He is also the founder of Club Fit, a recreational facility with locations in Briarcliff Manor and Jefferson Valley, chairman of the board of Westchester Community College and a director of the Jacob Burns Film Center in Pleasantville.
Taber, a Tarrytown resident, is a partner in the New York City office of the law firm Pillsbury, Winthrop, Shaw, Pittman LLP and the co-leader of the firm’s 200-attorney litigation section. He is also a member of the board of directors for the Harlem School of the Arts and serves on that board’s executive committee.
Zalvan, a Briarcliff Manor resident, is the medical director of the Institute for Voice and Swallowing Disorders at Phelps. A laryngologist, he is also a partner in the otolaryngology group ENT Faculty Practice LLP, a member of the medical executive committee at Westchester Medical Center and serves as a faculty senator for the senate at New York Medical College.
Phelps Memorial Hospital Center, which is part of the North Shore-LIJ Health System, is a 238-bed acute care community hospital in Sleepy Hollow. The center has more than 1,700 employees and 500 medical staff members.
