Phelps Memorial Hospital Center announced Helen Renck will take a role as the Sleepy Hollow hospital’s first assistant vice president of clinical operations and patient safety officer.
In the newly created position, Renck has oversight of ancillary clinical services and the hospital”™s patient safety program.
Prior to joining Phelps, she worked at Hospital for Special Surgery, where she had responsibilities for patient safety, Joint Commission accreditation, quality management and risk management.
Renck is a certified Joint Commission professional. She also holds certification in just culture; master training certification in Team STEPPS, educational programs that enhance communication, teamwork and patterns of behaviors that impact patient safety; and a certificate in patient safety from Harvard University. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from The College of New Rochelle and a Master of Science degree in nursing from Pace University.
“Quality and safety are top priorities for Phelps and the development of this role will support the mission and vision of our organization,” Mary McDermott, senior vice president for patient care services and chief nursing officer, said in a statement.
