Paul Hochenberg, a longtime hospital administrator in the Hudson Valley, has been named executive director of MidHudson Regional Hospital of Westchester Medical Center in Poughkeepsie.
His appointment was announced by officials at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, which last year acquired and renamed the former St. Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie.
Hochenberg replaces Arthur A. Nizza, who joined the Poughkeepsie hospital as president and CEO in August 2013 after serving in the same top post at the now-disbanded Stellaris Health Network in Westchester County. Nizza in December was named president and CEO of Meriter-Unity Point Health in Madison, Wisc.
In a 42-year career in health care, Hochenberg has led St. Luke”™s Hospital in Newburgh, Craig House Hospital in Beacon and Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New Hyde Park, according to Westchester Medical Center officials. He most recently was senior vice president for human resources and chief learning officer for Westchester Medical Center.
Michael D. Israel, president and CEO of Westchester Medical Center, in the announcement called Hochenberg “a seasoned hospital administrator” and “a trusted member of our senior team” at Westchester Medical Center, where he has worked for nearly nine years. “He has the perfect combination of experience, skills, personality and local knowledge to lead the organization as we grow and expand to better serve the adults and children of the area,” Israel said.
