A new professional organization for registered nurses across the state has been launched this month.
American Nurses Association-New York is dedicated to promoting excellence in the field, improving the quality of health care services and encouraging professional and leadership development of registered nurses.
The national organization, the American Nurses Association (ANA), has recognized New York as its newest state affiliate, so nurses who join the state organization will also have membership in and receive benefits from the national organization.
To fufill its bylaws, elections for officers and board members will be held by June 2013.
As part of the launch ”“ and in recognition of nurses who stood by their patients during Hurricane Sandy and helped their neighbors and larger communities ”“ the ANA-New York will contribute $5 for each new member who joins before July 2013 to the American Nurses Foundation”™s Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund.
