The White Plains Hospital Center said it is paving the way in heart health with its latest investment, a cardiac catheterization lab to identify heart disease and structural heart defects.
“The cardiac cath lab will significantly enhance the capabilities of our cardiologists to help identify the presence of heart disease and determine the need for treatment,” said Jon B. Schandler, hospital president and CEO.
The lab has three areas ”“ a prep and recovery room, control room and procedure room. Services will include coronary angiograms, which use narrow catheters, contrast dye and X-ray images to identify blockages in the coronary arteries.
The lab is on the third floor of the five-story, 7,000-square foot hospital addition, which is the future home of the new and expanded emergency department scheduled to open in early 2009.
