Mount Kisco Medical Group will eliminate 109 jobs in its billing department this summer as the multispecialty group practice turns over parts of its billing process to an outside revenue cycle management company.
Dr. Scott D. Hayworth, president and CEO of MKMG, said the workforce reduction affects less than half of the positions in the billing department. Affected workers on Monday were given 90 days”™ advance notice that their jobs will be terminated.
Hayworth said although those employees will remain employed by MKMG for the next 90 days, today is expected to be the last day they will report for duty. The company will offer six weeks”™ severance pay after the 90-day period and continued medical, dental and vision insurance during the severance period.
Eligible employees will also receive an additional week of pay for each full year of service at MKMG, up to an additional six weeks.
Hayworth said the employer is also offering assistance to workers in finding jobs both within MKMG and externally.
According to a filing with the state Labor Department, the largest number of cuts ”” 71 ”” will be made at the Chappaqua office on North Bedford Road. The remaining cuts will be six at the Rhinebeck office, 27 in Fishkill, four in Mount Kisco and one in Poughkeepsie.
MKMG partners chose to contract for billing services with IKS Health, the business name of New York City-based Inventurus Knowledge Solutions Inc. “The depth of knowledge and state-of-the-art technologies offered by IKS will enhance the MKMG patient experience and make the billing process more efficient,” Hayworth said in the announcement.
Hayworth called this “a difficult day for everyone at MKMG. We thank these impacted employees for their contributions and hope that the financial support and services will help each of them to find new opportunities either within MKMG or at other organizations that will benefit from their talents.”
