Mount Kisco Medical Group plans to open the first urgent care facility in Bedford Hills this year.
The medical group received approval from the Bedford Planning Board for a site plan waiver on its proposal to renovate the interior of a 20,000-square-foot building at 800 Bedford Road, the property of North Bedford Road Associations Inc.
What remains is the submission of an application for a building permit, which the medical group has yet to file with the Bedford building department.
“My operations people are working out the final details with the landlord,” said Scott Hayworth, president and CEO of Mount Kisco Medical Group (MKMG). “We”™re actively moving forward, but we haven”™t set an opening date yet.”
The 300-physician medical group, with urgent care facilities in Yorktown Heights and Carmel and 30 other clinic locations, is one of the largest health care organizations in the county.
“We find that patients prefer urgent care rather than going to emergency rooms,” Hayworth said. “As they look at their health care bills, their co-pays and deductibles are a lot less when they use an urgent care facility.”
The urgent care facility will have electronic medical records on hand, providing a continuity of care for its regular patients, Hayworth said.
The group, an independent clinical affiliate of Massachusetts General Hospital, will hire two physicians, one to two mid-level health care providers, two to four nurses, an X-ray technician and a front desk staff. The facility would accept both MKMG and non-MKMG patients.
Great to see plans for another urgent care center. All of us at Practice Velocity, an urgent care EMR / EHR software company, wish Mount Kisco Medical Group well as they pursue expanding in Bedford Hills. Good luck!
