Maria Fareri Children”™s Hospital, a member of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network in Valhalla, has hired Fernando Ferrer as its new chief of pediatric urology.
Ferrer, previously chair of surgery and surgeon-in-chief at Connecticut Children”™s Medical Center, will oversee all medical and surgical services for children and adolescents with urologic conditions. The company announced his hire March 28.
He will also continue his research into new therapies and treatments for pediatric patients. Ferrer has published more than 100 articles and book chapters in the field of pediatric urology, and has been a National Institutes of Health-funded investigator for 10 years.
Ferrer, a West Hartford resident, earned his medical degree at Georgetown University School of Medicine and completed a fellowship at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. Ferrer served as a diving medical officer in the U.S. Navy in Operation Desert Storm.
