Health Quest Systems Inc., the largest Dutchess County-based health care services provider in the Hudson Valley, announced it will acquire Hudson Valley Heart Center, a Poughkeepsie-based cardiology service provider with 25 physicians in  seven locations.
There will be no layoffs for the 200 employees at Hudson Valley Heart Center. The cardiology center plans to expand its services which may lead to potential job growth, said Sylvia Murphy, Health Quest public relations manager.Â
The transaction is scheduled to close Jan. 1. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The Health Quest system includes Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck, Putnam Hospital Center in Carmel and Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie.
The Hudson Valley Heart Center was one of only 11 cardiology practices in the nation and the only one in New York to receive the Bridges To Excellence Recognition Award. Â The award is based on standards established jointly by the American College of Cardiology and Bridges To Excellence.
With the pending acquisition, Â Health Quest aims to provide access to specialized tertiary services through the Heart Center’s research affiliation with Duke and Harvard universities, the Cleveland Clinic and pharmaceutical companies.
Some of the new services provided through the Heart Center include a specialized heart valve clinic and the expansion of cardiac MRI and heart failure prevention programs.
Health Quest provides a variety of services in the Hudson Valley, including cancer care, cardiac care, orthopedics, neurosciences, women”™s and children”™s services, and surgical services.
