Mercy College officials today announced a partnership with the Suburban Hospital Alliance of New York State L.L.C. that will give employees of the regional alliance”™s member hospitals a 15 percent discount on all undergraduate and graduate classes at the college in Dobbs Ferry.
The Suburban Hospital Alliance represents 51 hospitals in Westchester, Putnam, Rockland, Orange, Dutchess, Sullivan, Ulster, Nassau and Suffolk counties.
“Health care is the largest economic engine in the region and Mercy College is committed to do what it can to prepare healthcare providers,” said Joan Toglia, dean of Mercy”™s School of Health and Natural Sciences.
Kevin Dahill, president and CEO of the Suburban Hospital Alliance, in the announcement said the current focus in the health care industry “is to encourage practicing R.N.s and those who might be considering nursing as a career to at least obtain their bachelor”™s degree in nursing and even to go one step further and obtain their master”™s degree. Further, the changing dynamics of health care delivery and payment require a highly-skilled and educated workforce that can render quality care that ranges from the more routine preventive type to the more complex, acute level of services.”
