Orange County”™s YMCA will be a hosting a first ”“ a “bra-zaar” to help raise needed funds for the Y”™s women”™s health programs. The combination cocktail reception, art show and “bra-zaar” auction will be held at Bull”™s Head Inn in Campbell Hall on Thursday, Oct. 22, 5:30-8:00pm.
To raise awareness of breast cancer and support the Y”™s Healthy Women Partnership program that provides cancer support services, including early detection and diagnostic services, artists have been challenged to decorate or create a bra using their choice of materials. Submitted works must be handcrafted and resemble a bra. The submitted works will be auctioned off at the Bull”™s Head Inn reception.
“Breast cancer is a significant health issue for women ”“ and early detection is key to survival,” said Christine Sadowski, YWCA Orange County executive director. “It”™s nice to be able to use humor and have fun with the bra-zaar to bring attention to this important YWCA program.
“More than 1,600 uninsured and underinsured women participate in the Orange County Cancer Services Partnership program each year receiving mammograms and other early detection and diagnostic services they wouldn”™t otherwise be able to afford,” Sadowski said. “I appreciate the support we”™ve received from the artists and our friends at Bull”™s Head Inn that will surely make this first-time event a success. I”™m looking forward to seeing some truly creative works of art.”
Tickets are $50 per person and are available by contacting Sadowski at 561-8050, ext. 11.
