In partnership with Westchester Community College, Westchester Green Business Challenge will host the first talk in a four-part leaders-in-sustainability speaker series, How to Inspire Organizational Sustainability, on Oct. 16.
The event will be held from 8 to 10 a.m. at the Gateway Center at Westchester Community College, and will include a panel discussion led by Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Vice President Joanna Deyo; Diamond Properties LLC CEO Jim Diamond; and Lisa Moir, chef and owner of The Blue Pig Ice Cream.
The event will recognize those who have achieved Westchester Green Business Certification, which gives support from Westchester Green Business Challenge staff to businesses that strive for environmental sustainability while improving company performance.
Business Council of Westchester President and CEO Marsha Gordon and representatives from Westchester County Executive Robert P. Astorino’s office and Westchester Community College President Belinda S. Miles’s office are among those who will provide opening remarks.
The morning will conclude with a question-and-answer session at 9:45 a.m.
The Westchester Green Business Challenge is a free program launched by county government and the Business Council of Westchester in 2009 that aims to lower greenhouse emissions by county businesses. According to the county, it includes more than 300 unique organizations.
